Welcome to the new Connections Blog, Progressive Voice. We are excited to introduce this new platform as a communications tool and hope it will increase our collaboration and interaction with our participants, supporters, and friends. The blog is intended to serve as a vehicle for sharing and inspiring us to promote good progressive dialogue. While the majority of content will be Christian based since we are Christian community, it will include articles from other faiths too as we are a strong advocate for interfaith partnerships. Regardless of the faith-basis of the content, it will be progressive oriented; some posts may not be faith-oriented at all, but just plain, simple fun because we are a community.
We ARE a community!
We are a community, a community of like-minded people. A community of progressive-minded people. People who are focused on social justice, compassion, love, and hope as an expression of our faith. People who desire to make our neighborhoods, cities, and world, a better, more-just society to live in. People who realize that people are people [equal] regardless of orientation, ethnicity, gender, ability, age, or even appearance. We are all human and desire to be loved.
And this blog is an extension of our community to provide a platform for continued communication throughout the week to expand our horizons and understanding. Some topics we may agree with, other topics we might not, but both promote growth, compassion, and understanding. This is a platform to not only extend our conversations but to allow us to cover topics that we wither just don't have time to cover at church or Top Shelf Theology, but yet are important to our mission to be a progressive voice. Maybe even topics that aren't necessarily appropriate for a worship setting, but that are still respectful and family-friendly.
In addition to being an extension of the Veritas Hagerstown community, this is an online community of it's own. You can become a blog member by creating an account where members can follow each other, write and reply to comments, receive blog notifications, and customize your own personal profile page.
As with any online community, we ask that you remember your manners when interacting with one another. Treat everyone with courtesy and respect, the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as you love yourself (i.e. as you want to be loved or treated). We are an inclusive community of all persons.
Be Kind and Courteous: We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect as Jesus himself taught us. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
No Hate Speech or Bullying: Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
Respect Everyone's Privacy: Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group.
No Promotions or Spam: Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed.
This is an online blog so please do not post personal or confidential information, or share other people's business. This platform is managed by Wix and their security measures are utilized. Visit wix.com to learn more about their security policies.
Let's Do This!
The leadership team at Connections United Church of Christ and other groups within Connections Six Eight Ministries will be posting on a consistent basis on the blog, sharing a variety of topics and content. Please note, the blog is not replacing our usual modes of communicating with and getting feedback from our participants and the community at large. Instead, it is an additional way of communicating with you. We hope you will comment on our posts and on the comments of others, making this an active community of inspiration, justice, and a progressive voice.
